In a heartfelt plea that has captured the public's attention, Savannah Guthrie, the well-known host of the Today Show, alongside her siblings Annie and Cameron, has shared a poignant video urging for information regarding their missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, who is 84 years old. This emotional message comes in the wake of their mother being reported missing on Sunday.
The video, which was shared on Instagram on Wednesday, emphasizes the fragile state of their mother’s health, highlighting that she is currently without her necessary medication. Savannah expressed her deep concern by stating, "She’s 84 years old. Her health, her heart, is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive, and she needs it not to suffer."
Adding to the complexity of the situation, Savannah acknowledged media reports regarding a ransom letter from individuals who are believed to have taken her mother. "We, too, have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk," she mentioned. "However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen."
Nancy Guthrie was last seen by her family at her residence near Tucson, Arizona, on Saturday night, with concerns escalating when a family member learned from a church contact that she was missing the following afternoon. The Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, has indicated that he cannot dismiss the possibility of foul play in this case.
During a news conference held on Sunday night, Sheriff Nanos revealed that Nancy was last spotted around 9:30 PM that Saturday. Search and rescue teams, assisted by volunteers and border patrol agents, along with the homicide division, have been involved in the investigation—a move that is unusual for cases of this nature. Nanos further stated on Monday morning, “We do in fact have a crime scene,” implying that there may be more to this story than a simple disappearance.
As of Wednesday, no new updates have surfaced regarding the investigation, according to the Associated Press. Annie Guthrie referred to their mother as "our beacon" in the emotional Instagram video, making a heartfelt appeal for her safe return. "The light is missing from our lives; Nancy is our mother, we are her children, she is our beacon," she passionately shared. "We are always going to be merely human, just normal human people who need our mom. Mama, Mama, if you’re listening, we need you to come home. We miss you."
Following the family's urgent statement, former President Donald Trump took to social media, announcing that he had a conversation with Savannah Guthrie on Wednesday and was "deploying all resources to get her mother home safely." Reports from Axios indicate that Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi also reached out to Guthrie, while FBI Director Kash Patel is personally heading to Tucson to assist in the efforts.
